Ok so I am going to Rant a bit about Cable Providers. So hold on to your socks while I UNLOAD!
I recently moved and had to set up Internet, Cable, and because it came in a wonderful “BUNDLE”, Phone service. Now unlike the horror stories we have heard about Cable Technicians arriving between 8am and 5 pm they were on time and got the job done. They did complain about bundle packages not being scheduled after 12pm, oh boo hoo, cry me a river. He got the job done and didn’t leave too much of a mess. So I went to set up my Voice mailbox tonight. Well guess what? It wasn’t ready in the “System”. So, being a somewhat Pissed Off Customer I called. Well the “Tech”(more like a glorified Monkey) told me that something must have gone wrong in the set-up and that he would have it fixed and call me back. Well, within less than five minutes I got a call and it had been fixed. Now mind you I had called two days ago, so the little monkeys at the cable company could figure out how to flip a damn switch.
Now mind you I am no Cable technician, but it seems to me that when something is “broke” in the system that it takes a little more than two minutes to fix, especially when it deals with computers.
I have come to the conclusion my order was missed somehow.
So, one or two things happened when I called 2 days ago; the Tech lied, and it doesn’t take 2 days to get into the system, or that they had to wait for the GOD OF VOICEMAIL to arrive and I was lucky that one of the Minor Demi-gods were available when I called tonight. Yeah right!
I have had people tell me that they were sorry for me when I lived in Iowa and had Mediacom as a cable provider; however my current provider is Way Worse! I know, I know, DIRECTV, but they too have had their problems. The problem goes way deeper my friends. It is a total lack of caring by big business.
The only way that we as mere humans are going to make a difference is by complaining and taking an aggressive stance in getting what we want and need from them. I mean really, I do live in the same town as your corporate offices and I do know where you office is…..no, I am not condoning violence. (Even if I did purchase that Winchester 870 pump shotgun with the colasable stock and the black matt finish would I go to the local office) But, constructive criticism is always a good thing. ( well most of the time). Like a Peter Finch once said in the movie Network….
“I’m mad as hell, and I’m not going to take this any more!”
Funny thing is, this speaks to Us now even as it did then.
